Wigwam Flats Cycling Seasonal Closure
Wigwam Flats snow is mostly gone and people have been hiking, cycling and dog walking there since mid February. Wildlife managers are reminding the public that only non-motorized use is allowed beyond the Elko gate and that dogs must be on a leash. Mountain bikers are not allowed along the Wigwam River Rim roads and trail from March 1st to June 14th (Bighorn Sheep lambing season). Please look closely at the maps loaded on this post. The red GPS tracks show the area open for cycling and the blue GPS tracks show the seasonal closure. Always stay on the established roads and trails and do not disturb the animals and the grasslands.
Also please only ride sanctioned trails as shown on pinkbike. Riding unsanctioned animal trails could result in loosing access. Wildlife managers have previously recommended closing the entire area to bikes however agreed to the limited closure as shown here. Please respect the agreement.
On the Management Plan map shown below the seasonal closure is shown in less detail (yellow line).
