Gorby Creek – Old Goats Bridge
The FTA boys and gals erected the new Gorby Creek Crossing Bridge to Old Goats Trail today. Thanks to Doug and George for the nicely crafted 32′ bridge and decking. Work party of ten quickly installed the bridge and boardwalks using materials flown in by Ascent Helicopters. SMS Equipment supplied catwalk honeycomb decking and fabricated steel framming. Nice cedar decking from Morris Manufacturing.
Also installed a new signpost and signage after we hauled it out of Gorby Creek. Apparently some door knob does not appreciate the trail upgrade and threw the cedar 6″X6″ sign post and BC Parks/FTA signage in the creek to protest the upgrade. Thanks for that. Sorry but BC Parks wanted the old log crossing removed for public safety reasons and it is a condition of the FTA trail stewardship.
On a positive note the Old Goats trailhead is now open for business and we will work upward clearing trees and controlling erosion in the next few weeks.
