Porky Blue Success – Return of the Pig
The weather threatened us with dark clouds but the Fernie Trails and Ski Touring Club pulled off the 4th annual bike ride on Porky Blue Trail. One hundred and eighteen riders and a dozen volunteers were all accounted for at the end of the ride and all had a great time at the FERNIE HOTEL beer garden. The rain from the day before made for near perfect trail conditions with good traction, no dust and cool cycling. Before and after the TransRockies event that used the trail last weekend the FTASTC buffed up the trail and added new berms and diversions to improve the difficult sections.
Raffled off two Townie Bikes from the GUIDES HUT during the late afternoon door prize give away and the crowd donated $890 to the FERNIE TRAILS ALLIANCE to keep up the good work maintaining our non-motorized trail system. Another successful PORKY BLUE RIDE event and fundraiser for all our happy mountain bikers.
