Pork’s Revenge Race Route (28 km) or Recreational Fun Ride (18 km)
On Saturday, August 4th starting at 11 pm sharp from Fernie Aquatic Center. This race loop (or long ride) involves 3 climbs over 28 kilometers and totals just over 1300 meters elevation gain. HyperVentilation will be climbed twice, the first descent down Southern Comfort and the second descent down HyperExtention. There will be a 3 pm cutoff on Coal Creek Road after the second descent down HyperExtension. This cutoff is four hours into the ride and allows all volunteers and riders to be back at the Fernie Hotel Beer Garden by 4 pm. The extra entry fee for the race route will all be given back as prize money for the first three male and female racers.
The route is: (Start) Aquatic Center – Fernie Powerline – Branch BR1 Road – HyperVentilation – Castle Rocks – Southern Comfort – River Road – Roots – HyperVentilation – HyperExtention – Ridgemont Road – Splitting Bears – Split Descision – Erics Trail – Kids Stuff – R-Trail – Deadfall – Oh Dear – Old Stumpy – Skate Board Park (finish)
The Recreation Ride will not climb HyperVentilation the second time and will descend lower Roots, Old River Road and lower Uprooted from the new River Road (route is 18 km and 600 meters climbing). Both routes will be properly flagged and signed with control volunteers along the route. All riders have to check out at the control station near the skate board park (Ridgemont Railway Crossing).
