Cabins Open with Tunnel Creek Rebuild
The Thunder Meadows and Tunnel Creek Cabins opened today for overnight stays for the season! Current bookings are up to January 31 and February to April will be available for online booking on January 15 @ 6am. Harvey Pass is a warming hut for day use only and is a popular day ski and snowmobile destination.
All those involved in the Tunnel Creek rebuild are proud of the outcome and we’re certain that you’ll appreciate the effort. The Tunnel Creek rebuild was an investment of 600 hours of volunteer time and $32,000 in materials and helicopter support. The increased space, enclosed wood shed, trap door wood entrance, new beds, new wood stove, new lighting, new kitchen counter and grey water sink, and other details have created a new level of comfort.
Here is the list of organizations and businesses who without their support, the Tunnel Creek Hut rebuild would not have happened. Thank you!

Our cabins are user maintained our cabin policies have been created with the goal of ensuring everyone’s stay meets their expectations. Thunder Meadows was recently discovered with the doors unlatched and snow blowing in, this could seriously alter the experience.
Common sense is required when using back country cabins, here is our check list:
1. The firewood and propane is flown in by helicopter each autumn at great expense, please conserve and minimize your footprint. Operate the stove efficiently by using the damper and keep the door closed at all times. Please melt snow in the provided melt pots on the wood stove rather than using the propane.
2. Please use the outhouse (located beside the cabin) for everything, including urinating. Bacteria from urine works it way up through the snow-pack towards light creating a health hazard. You know where you urinate however the next group does not and could become ill from your bacteria. This is the reason why dogs are not allowed.
3. Our solar panel system can be compromised with prolonged snow cycles, please conserve. Please power the lights off when touring and on your departure.
4. Please ensure the propane is turned off when touring and on departure.
5. Please pack out everything that you bring including all tin, glass and food.
6. Ensure that the door and windows are closed and latched when leaving.
7. Properly clean the cabin for the next guests as we have no custodian to clean after you.
8. Dogs are NOT permitted in the winter at as they put guests in danger due to contaminated snow which is used for water consumption.
9. Please report any damage or resource shortages such as wood or propane to directors@fernietrails.com.
Have a great season and be safe!
