Tunnel Creek Renovations Planned for 2022

The FTSTC is planning for Tunnel Creek renovations the summer of 2022. The plan is to replace the existing Tunnel Creek bunk house with a superior structure that matches the existing day use structure.

This renovation on the hut would increase the quality of overnight stays and improve the day use experience. The footing and occupancy will remain the same.

The fundraising effort began in December with the film premier of La Liste at the Vogue Theatre. We earned $642.50 from the event and it’s a start towards the $20,000 project.

Luck is always a factor with cabin projects. With Harvey Hut we were lucky last summer to have carpenters and big equipment come available when resources were limited. Hopefully we’ll have luck and good fortune on our side for Tunnel.

The volunteer task involves pre-building the cabin sections in town, transporting by trailer to the Tunnel parking lot, and flying in the parts and pieces. We’ll have a few days or work in town and onsite to complete the task. We’ll rely on many volunteers, successful fundraising, and cooperative weather.

The old cabin will be flown out for refurbishing and potential future use at another touring location.
