Thunder Meadows Work Party a Success
The Thunder Meadows Work Party was a success as all of the list items were completed and we had some fun celebrating the cabins 20th anniversary.
The anniversary work party saw the rebuild of the cabin front deck, re-plywooding of the kitchen floor, painting of the entire interior (including benches and tables), a new kitchen counter, refurbishing the wood stove and metal back heat reflector, and a new entrance door, all on day one.
Day two saw the foundation restoration of the outhouse, a new door, and most impressively the retrofit of the excrement handling system to a “clevis motrum” aerobic digester (composting toilet), re-screwing the tin on the roof, and of course the re-stocking of the firewood supply.
An ambitious work party toiled in the hot September sun, and afterwards BBQ’d ribs and beer were thoroughly enjoyed by all of the volunteers. A special thanks to Ian Stokie for organizing the materials and work party.
In the coming weeks a new solar power system will be installed. Dave McBeath has configured a system with local solar experts and has purchased a 250W module that will power 4 X 460 lumen fixtures.
Thanks to everyones efforts, another 20 years of good times will be had in the Thunder Meadows Hut. Donations towards the anniversary renovations can be made here.
