Tunnel Creek Hut Renovations

The Fernie Trails & Ski Touring Club Tunnel Creek Hut renovations are looking great thanks to outstanding volunteer efforts and generous support from our sponsors.

The plan to replace the old Tunnel Creek bunk house with a new permanent structure that matches the newer day use facility are ready for this season.

This renovation on the hut will increase the quality of overnight stays and improve the day use experience. The footing and occupancy remain the same however the bunk space is much larger.

Luck is always a factor with cabin projects in the Alpine. The late summer weather has positively influenced the progress, good luck and good support have contributed to the Tunnel Creek bunk house projects success.

The volunteer task began in 2021 with planning, approvals and fundraising, and continued this summer with transporting the building materials to the site and removing the original bunk house. Twenty work days with a great crew has brought the cabin addition to a ready for winter state. Ascent Helicopters has assisted with flying the materials.

A.G.M.

The Fernie Trails & Ski Touring Club will hold its A.G.M. on Thursday, January 21, 7:00 P.M. at Freshies Coffee Shop. 561 2nd ave Fernie.
Items to be discussed will include all old business, Thunder Meadows and the new winter shelter for Tunnel Creek.
Everyone with an interest in Summer Trail use and Winter Ski Touring is invited to attend. Hope to see you there.
