No Membership Required to Book Cabins This Season

Fernie backcountry cabins are now easier to book: no membership is required to reserve Thunder Meadows or Tunnel Creek for overnight stays this season. We’ve moved to a simple flat nightly rate to streamline accounting and bookings.
That said, we encourage you to purchase a $5 membership—it helps maintain the huts and supports backcountry-access advocacy across the Elk Valley, plus you’ll get updates on volunteer opportunities and cabin news.

What’s Bookable & When
• Thunder Meadows (overnight, whole-cabin only):
o Max stay: up to 3 nights
o Capacity: 8 people
o Seasons: Dec 1 – Apr 30 and Jul 1 – Oct 31
o Notes: Area closed for goat lambing in spring; November is a work period.

• Tunnel Creek (overnight, whole-cabin only):
o Max stay: up to 3 nights
o Capacity: 6 people
o Season: Dec 1 – Apr 30 only
o Notes: High-value summer range for sheep & goat; no summer license, so no summer bookings.

• Harvey Pass (day use only):
o Open year-round; not bookable for overnights.

Day Use (Thunder and Tunnel): 10:00am–3:00pm. Day users are welcome—please donate online if you’re not a member.

How to Book (Overview)
1. Create or log in to your account on the booking site.
2. Choose your cabin and dates (whole-cabin bookings only).
3. Pay the flat nightly rate (no membership needed).
4. Complete waivers for you and your group (details below).

Tip: Bookings are competitive on release days. Weekdays are usually easier to secure. Log into your account prior to booking day to ensure you’re ready.

Winter Booking Schedule (MST)
• Sat, Nov 15, 2025 – 6:00am: Opens Dec 1–Jan 31 inventory for Thunder Meadows & Tunnel Creek.
• Thu, Jan 15, 2026 – 6:00am: Opens Feb 1–Apr 30 inventory for Thunder Meadows & Tunnel Creek.

Pro move: buy your $5 membership ahead of time so there’s one less item in your cart during the 6:00am rush.

Limits & Fair Use
• Non-commercial only: No guided trips, tours, or courses.
• One visit per cabin per release period per booker, so everyone gets a chance.
• Schedule is split (Nov & Jan releases) to further spread access.

Waivers & Guest Info (Required)
All guests must sign the online waiver. The person who books is responsible for ensuring every guest completes it. Enter their email addresses and the system will do the rest. This info is mandatory for:
• club insurance liability,
• Fernie SAR contacts, and
• Island Lake Lodge avalanche control notifications.

Reselling Bookings (Not Permitted)
Private resales aren’t allowed. If you can’t use your dates, the Club must handle any resale through the booking engine to collect required contact and emergency details.

Cancellations & Refunds
• No transfers and no guaranteed cancellations.
• If you can’t go:
1. Cancel your booking by emailing directors@fernietrails.comto return it to online inventory.
2. Share the live availability link so others see it.
3. If the Club resells your dates, you’ll be refunded your booking cost minus a $10 admin fee.
4. Email directors@fernietrails.com once it resells to trigger your PayPal refund.
