Island Lake Access
Island Lake’s main parking lot will not be available to the public for the 2020/21 season. The Gorby pullout is recommended for parking at this time.
When accessing or descending from Thunder Meadows in Cedar Valley you will be on Island Lake’s private property.
Island Lake does allow public access on its privately-owned land for Thunder Meadows guests.
Access is only allowed in permitted areas, please review the maps below and respect their closures.
Island Lake performs avalanche control measures and heli bombs the upper bowls including Cabin Bowl. Large avalanches are possible and could be extremely hazardous. Island Lake’s procedure is to fly over the area before bombing. In addition, they may attempt to call cell phones associated with the Thunder Meadows booking.
Orca Bowl is the preferred exit bowl and the new bridge at the Orca road Lizard Creek crossing is the best route.
Only non-motorized outdoor winter recreational activities are permitted. Snowmobiles or any other motorized vehicles are not permitted for access.
